Jon Koppenhaver legally changes name to “War Machine”

In an effort to keep his nickname, Jon Koppenhaver legally changes his name to retain rights to use it.

All is explained in his Myspace blog:

“SO in case you didn’t notice in my last fight the UFC did NOT use my nickname when I fought. Turns out some g@y @ss wrestling federation threatened to sue them because they recently named one of their wrestlers The War Machine Rhino and trademarked the name.

Too f–kin’ bad that I have been using this name for 6 years, have it tatted on my body and it is what my fans yell out when I’m fighting. If you know my personality then you know damn well I am not gonna let some f@ggot @ss, FAKE wrestler steal MY name…SO 6 weeks ago I filed a change of name request and today I had court to make my name officially WAR MACHINE.

F–kin’ funny right? Didn’t really wanna have to do it but I am sure as hell not lose MY nickname.”

UFC: 84 ‘Ill Will’ Fight Card Finalized

“Sean Sherk, you’re dead!”

Spoken like a true champion, BJ Penn calls out “The Muscle Shark” after dominated Joe Stevenson for the vacated UFC Lightweight title. That victory made him the second person in the UFC to hold titles in two different weight classes, the first being Randy Couture. Sean Sherk however was not impressed. “That belt belongs to me,” said Sherk. “You’ve got one more fight before you can be called lightweight champ.” Due to suspected steroids use, former UFC Lightweight Champion, was stripped of his belt after a failed drug test back in UFC 83. Finally these two get to collide…

Other headline bouts include Tito Ortiz in his last UFC appearance fighting against the undefeated Lyoto Machida and Wanderlei Silva taking on Keith Jardine.
